A man of Haitian origin is hospitalized in Montréal for terminal cancer. His daughter Vanessa, whom he hasn't seen in over twenty years, is slowly reconnecting with him. As she serves him traditional dishes she has cooked, she learns the tragic and deeply-moving story of her country and of her father, a victim of the Duvalier regime.
